HERE IS A POEM ABOUT IRAQ!

BACK IN IRAQ
I went to do my duty
It wasn’t any big deal.
Couple weekends, couple weeks
Beer money and college too!

I’d heard the horror stories
Thought they were isolated cases
I was right, but I was one.
Sarge was a competent
But not where I’m concerned.

Dropped my ball big time
And someone ran with it.
Basic was basic
And that never changes

But I wasn’t supposed to be there.
Something was wrong with my feet
No, really, not whining.
Surgery upcoming wrong.

I was a horror story
But I got through it.
So far. Sort of.
Finally got on that big bird
And headed for Kuwait.

I was gonna be all I could be
But when I got there I was just hungry!
They fed us good.
I guess they knew some of us
Were never coming back.

A week in the lap of luxury,
I’m just kidding you know,
And it’s off to see what we came for.
I didn’t know in the world
There was sooo much damn sand.

It isn’t hot, but that is coming I know.
I’m company armorer
But I’m driving a truck.
Got attacked our first week
But my truck is armored.

Damn, someone realized it.
Now my truck isn’t armored.
Wonder who is driving my other truck.
I really liked it.
It was armored you know.

My best friend’s convoy
Was IED’d this week.
Nobody hurt….this time.
Sent a video of it to my Dad
I’m not sure he appreciated that.

A person could go insane here.
There was dust flying everywhere.
Was it the Blackhawk that just flew by
Or the sand storm that just came in.
Doesn’t really matter, sucks sucks.

I clowned around at first,
Wore a funny mask and took a picture.
I sent it to my Dad
First it made him laugh,
Then it made him cry.

I didn’t think of that.

Now I just do my job.
I go home in 3 weeks for 2.
I’m feeling short.
I hope I live.

3 weeks for 2 and in 5
I’ll be back in Iraq.
They’ll still be killing each other.
I’ll still be doing my job.
It’ll be hot then.

I hope I get an armored truck,
Back in Iraq.

"Fire Bison" A small sample of my photoart

I took this picture out in Colorado last year and
1.) no it isn't an infra-red film
2.) no it isn't an infra-red filter
3.) and no it isn't a click and change photo edit.

It took three software programs and about 1/2 an hour to get just the look I wanted and at that, I wound up doing it a second time!

I hope you enjoy this!

HERE ARE A COUPLE TO START YOU OFF!

Great oak in the field
When you grow old will you frame
A rare masterpiece?

Grand hawk flying high
What tiny movement draws you
Down like a comet?

NEW HERE! COME AND READ!

Hello everyone. I am Swiftfox (mountain man name) and here you will be able to read what seems to be becoming popular poetry of mine. Haiku, military and conventional poetry. On occasion I will throw in some of my photoart and once in a while, I will complain or gripe or expound my personal views for your castizing! Enjoy and look to see you soon!
